Shopping in Munich, Germany

After my hectic visit through 3 German cities the previous day I got up late in Motel One Munich. After breakfast I returned to my room to package some old and some of my newly purchased clothes, repacked my extra overflow bag and prepared to post it by DHL from the post office outside Munich Hauptbahnhof (main train station) to South Africa.

I checked out at 12pm, left my luggage in the luggage store with reception but still chilled a little in the lobby with WiFi till 1pm before heading to the post office. The queue was quite long but I managed to post home my 7.5kg bag for 60 euros after about 30 minutes.

I then spent the afternoon shopping in and around Marienplatz.

I found a cool multi-level sports store that had a wide range of swimming goggles to try on and purchase. With the help of a store assistant I purchased a good set.

I purchased quite a few more t-shirts at Esprit, ate lunch in the restaurant at Galleria Kauphof (fried salmon with chips and Citrus mousse) and resumed shopping.

A lot of the stores in Munich can be found in Mannheim.

However I found Mannheim less busy and easier to shop in.

I only left the shopping district at 7pm to return to Munchen One Sud hotel to collect my bags.

I left Munchen One Sud at 2020 and was at Munchen Hauptbahnhof by 2035 with enough time to grab a pizza slice before my 2108 departure on an overnight sleeper train to Florence, Italy.
